The Genealogical Society of Victoria is delighted to invite you to our library to learn about researching your family history in Scotland. An opportunity to do some hands-on Scottish research on your family with a guide to assist you.
The GSV library holds a large number of resources to assist with researching Scottish family history and many of our Members have considerable research experience and skills in the area. We are opening our Library to give you an opportunity to learn about our resources and meet our experts who will provide individual assistance for your research. There will be an introductory talk and then you will have an opportunity to explore what’s there – both on line and on the shelves.
Due to our limited space, numbers are limited for each session.

Researching from Australia back to Scotland

This talk will outline the process and resources available to research individuals from Victoria and Australia back to their ancestors in Scotland. You know your family in Australia, but how did they come from Scotland and what resources are available to help you find out more about their life and family over there?
Most researchers begin with Scottish records and work their way forward. We’ll teach you how to research working the other way!

Learn How to Access ScotlandsPeople
